Jessica is the lab manager for the Global Change Research Group and Program Coordinator for NOAA-CESSRST at San Diego State University. She oversees the lab operations from project coordinating to logistical support for field work. Previously, she worked with Dr. Oechel and Dr. Zona to compare several years of data from the eddy covariance research towers in Alaska as part of her BS Biology (Zoology) until 2018. Inspired by the Arctic tundra ecosystem, Jessica continued studying carbon fluxes with a major added animal component– lemmings! She completed her MS Ecology in 2020 with SDSU. Her areas of expertise include: effects of lemming grazing on Arctic tundra productivity, herbivory, animal behavior, predator cues, CO2 and CH4 fluxes, vegetation response.
